Instagram Widget

The Instagram widget shows a number of the latest images from your Instagram account. In some templates this widget can be found in the sidebar, in some others it is placed at the bottom of the blog. It needs to be activated first before it starts showing your Instagram feed and this is how you do that:

>>> COPY THE RIGHT CODE INTO THE WIDGET

1. Go to section Layout and open the Instagram widget with the 'edit' option. Look for an HTML/JavaScript widget with the title ‘On Instagram’

2. Delete the coding that is already there (this is the coding from the demo blog)
3. Copy the code from the Instagram Widget HTML Code (you will find this code in a text document in the zip-file you downloaded through Etsy) and paste it into the widget area

>>> GET YOUR ACCESSTOKEN

4. Go to http://instagram.pixelunion.net/ and click on Generate Access Token

5. Copy your Access Token
6. Find this line in the widget code:

accessToken:"ACCESSTOKEN",

7. Replace ACCESSTOKEN with your Access Token Number (and make sure you do not delete the quotes)

>>> FIND YOUR INSTAGRAM ID

8. Copy the numbers before the first full stop/dot in the access token number (that will be your instagram ID)
9. Find this line in the widget code:

userId: INSTAGRAMID,

10. Replace INSTAGRAMID with your Instagram ID
11. Now save the widget and your Instagram widget should show up on your blog

Please make sure your Instagram account is set to PUBLIC. A private account will not show the images in these kind of widgets.

>>> IN CASE YOU DO NOT WANT THE INSTAGRAM WIDGET

1. Go to section Layout and open the Instagram widget with the 'edit' button
2. Remove the widget with the 'remove' button - it will no longer appear on the blog

>>> MAKE SURE TO CROP YOUR IMAGES TO SQUARES ON INSTAGRAM!

It is very important that you only use square shaped images on your Instagram feed. If you upload images to Instagram without cropping them into a square, the Instagram Widget will show these images in the shape they were uploaded (rectangle vertical or horizontal), messing up the look of the widget.
